The information technology revolution is changing what we know about the world. It is also changing the world itself.
I believe we have arrived at the cusp of a better understanding of how complex systems work and why they fail. Engineered systems increasingly resemble natural systems in terms of complexity. To succeed, we need to look more for common patterns that cut across the boundaries of traditional disciplines.
